Saudi agriculture ministry to withdraw undeveloped lands from noncompliant companies: Report

Saudi Arabia’s agriculture ministry warned local companies that it could withdraw their lands if they failed to comply with the cabinet’s conditions for land ownership, Al-Sharq newspaper reported.

The ministry sent notices to the National Agriculture Development Co. (NADEC), Qassim Agriculture Co. (GACO), and Tabuk Agriculture Development Co. (TADCO).

“A joint team from the agriculture and water ministries will form a committee to ensure that the cabinet’s resolution is put into effect,” Jaber Al-Shahry, the spokesman for the ministry was quoted as saying. “It will also evaluate the current situation to see the extent of corporate compliance.”

Any company that meets the land ownership conditions can keep its land title, he added.

According to data available on Argaam, the Saudi cabinet in its previous meeting approved a number of procedures in regards to land ownership requests submitted by NADEC, GACO, and TADCO.
