Saudi Arabia and Bahrain signed an agreement to set up a team to conduct feasibility study on boosting oil output, benefiting from the carbon dioxide (CO2) produced by Saudi Aramco, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.
The agreement was signed by Saudi Aramco chief technology officer Ahmad Othman Al-Khowaiter and Bahrain's Oil and Gas Holding Co.’s acting CEO Dhafer Al-Jalahma on Monday.
The move came following a meeting between Al-Khowaiter and Bahrain's oil minister Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, where they discussed cooperation opportunities in the field of CO2 injection technology and setting up a transport and distribution network.
They also discussed joint efforts to carry out projects, including the new pipeline.
