MAEE issues new regulations for water rationalization

The National Center for Water Efficiency and Conservation (MAEE) issued the Executive Regulations for Monitoring and Compliance with Water Efficiency and Rationalization Standards, which will take effect on March 21, 2026.

 

The regulations aim to develop a comprehensive mechanism to ensure adherence to water efficiency and rationalization practices to achieve water sustainability. This is in addition to ensuring the implementation of the MAEE's strategic plan and compliance with water efficiency and rationalization standards, the state-run SPA reported, citing a MAEE statement.

 

The regulations include 15 basic articles, covering MAEE objectives and scope of application, standards of commitment to water efficiency and rationalization.

 

Furthermore, the regulations are part of efforts to increase commitment to water efficiency and rationalization in the urban, agricultural, and industrial sectors and contribute to achieving water sustainability, in line with Vision 2030.
