Prices of 103 Saudi commodities, services rise in March

The average prices of 103 out of 169 goods and services in 10 categories in Saudi Arabia turned higher year-on-year (YoY) in March, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

On the other hand, the prices of 60 commodities declined and six remained unchanged.

White cabbage was the highest gainer in March, up 58.9% YoY, followed by local green bell pepper with a 31.69% YoY hike.

Meanwhile, local spreadable cheese (Almarai) was the biggest decliner, dropping by 13.64% YoY, followed by local round onions, which declined by 9.60% YoY.

Elsewhere, prices of 32 construction materials rose on an annual basis last month, while six others decreased YoY.

Annual prices of four feed and livestock types rose in March, while nine declined YoY.

In the clothing category, prices of seven items increased YoY, while three others retreated YoY.

Prices of three miscellaneous personal services and commodities went up YoY, while one fell YoY in March.

Prices of two detergent products advanced last month, compared to the same month in the previous year while, two items saw a YoY price slump.

Prices of the three health services witnessed a YoY jump in March.

Elsewhere, prices of one out of two services under the maintenance & repair of personal means of transportation went up YoY. The other service under the same category retreated YoY in March.

For hotels and furnished apartments, one service price increased YoY, while another decreased YoY last month.

Under the tobacco category, the price of Marlboro declined YoY in March.
